Andrew Fink - Head Coach

Andrew Fink is currently in his 13th year as the Mount Ida College men’s lacrosse head coach and 14th year with the program overall. He has compiled an overall record of 140-68 and has led the Mustangs to eight conference championships, two of them since the Mustangs joined the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) in 2011. In 2015, Fink led the Mustangs to an 11-5 record, including a ten-game winning streak, and helped them reach the GNAC championship game for the fourth time in five years. That game marked the eleventh season in which Fink and the Mustangs appeared in their conference title game, as they made seven appearances in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship, winning six straight between 2004 and 2009.

 

While members of the NAC, Fink compiled a regular season record of 56-1, and began a streak of eight seasons in which he coached the team to double-digit victories, including a program-record 15 victories in 2012, when they repeated as GNAC champs in just their second year in the conference. Fink, whose teams have made four trips to the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse tournament, also serves as the Athletic Department's Recruiting and Retention Coordinator and as a liaison between athletics and admissions at Mount Ida.

 

Fink played his college lacrosse at the University of Hartford, graduating in 2001 with a degree in communications from the College of Arts and Sciences. As a four-year varsity player and three-year starter, Fink played defense for Hartford. In his junior campaign, the Hawks earned the American East Conference regular season title.A graduate of Rocky Hill High School in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, Fink earned all-league and all-state honors in lacrosse.

The NAC Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2010 and GNAC Coach of the Year in 2011, Fink was also honored as Mount Ida College's "Coach-of-the-Year" twice, honored by the Mustangs in 2009 and 2011. Fink and his coaching staff presented this year for the fifth time at the U.S. Lacrosse National Convention, with topics including "Offense vs. Defense - Strategy and Adjustments", "Team Defense", and Man-Down Defense" in Baltimore, Maryland. Fink and his staff's presentation at the 2015 convention in Baltimore was on "Defense with your Hands."

 

Fink also skippers two travel teams and will travel to Prague, Czech Republic for the sixth time with his international team to compete in the Prague Cup.

Anthony Dimaio - Associate Head Coach

Anthony DiMaio, a member of the Mount Ida men's lacrosse staff since 2010, enters his seventh season as the Associate Head Coach, and recruiting coordinator for the Mount Ida Men’s Lacrosse team.

During his time with the Mustangs, Mount Ida has compiled a 56-34 record, won back to back GNAC Championships, appeared in four conference finals, and qualified for the 2012 NCAA Division III tournament. DiMaio has coached 20 All Conference selections, Two Conference Offensive Players of the Year, Two GNAC Rookie of the Years, five NEILA East-West All Stars, and Two National North-South All Star participants. DiMaio has worked multiple lacrosse camps, and played and coached in the Czech Republic, during 2012 Prague Cup.

As a player, Anthony was a three year member of the Mustang lacrosse team.  He was awarded the Most Improved Player award in 2005 and was part of three (2005, 2006, 2009) North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship teams. The Mustangs qualified for the NCAA tournament in his senior season. DiMaio finished his career with 18 goals and 15 assists.

DiMaio graduated in 2009 from Mount Ida College with a degree in Business Management.

Anthony is also the Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach as well as a Coach in-Residence. He will be working with the Bolts Lacrosse Club this coming spring.

Cory Gelbstein - Associate Head Coach

Corey Gelbstein has made the transition from the playing field to the sidelines, as he becomes an assistant coach for the 2016 season after serving as a volunteer assistant during 2015 following his Mount Ida playing career.

A three year member of the Mustangs, Gelbstein was a member of the 2012 GNAC championship team and Division III NCAA tournament qualifier. Corey finished his career ranked third all time for caused turnovers at Mount Ida College. Gelbstein started his collegiate career at nearby Curry College.

Scholastically he played at the Forman School, where he was a two year Captain. Gelbstein graduated this fall with a degree in American Studies. He currently resided in West Roxbury, MA.

Chris Button - Assistant Coach

Chris Button enters his first on the Mount Ida College Men's Lacrosse Coaching Staff. Coach Button spent last season on the sidelines at Division III Regis College where he oversaw the offense and help lead the team to an 8-6 record and a trip to the NECC Semi-Finals. At Mount Ida College, Button will be working primarily with the attack unit.

A 2014 graduate of Le Moyne College, Button finished amongst the top three team scorers in each of his final three seasons while helping guide the program to a 2013 NCAA Division II National Title.

The  Fairport, NY native finished his illustrious attack career as the eighth all-time leading goal scorer for the green and white with a four-year team record of 60-8 including two Northeast-10 Conference Titles.

In addition to his playing experience Button has assisted his high school alma mater Fairport High School during the spring seasons with a trip to the state semifinals in 2014. He has also spent time on the summer coaching circuit at the Le Moyne, RIT and Bucknell University summer lacrosse camps.

Coach Button currently resides in Brighton, MA.
